The White House has pointed the finger at Iran for orchestrating the attacks on three commercial ships in the Red Sea on Sunday.

National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, in a press briefing, asserted that the assaults, carried out by Houthi rebels from Yemen, were facilitated by Iran. The USS Carney responded to distress calls from the targeted ships, successfully intercepting several drones involved in the attack.

According to Sullivan, Iran bears ultimate responsibility for providing weapons to the Houthi group, enabling such actions.

Sullivan highlighted that Houthi forces have been consistently launching attacks not only on commercial vessels but also towards Israel and U.S. assets in the region.

The accusations against Iran come as tensions escalate in the Red Sea, with the U.S. vowing to take necessary actions to safeguard its interests and those of its allies in the area.
