A multi-state recall of eggs is underway following an outbreak of salmonella that has been linked to more than 60 reported cases across nine states. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has confirmed that Wisconsin-based Milo’s Poultry Farms is recalling all eggs sold under the brands “Milo’s Poultry Farms” and “Tony’s Fresh Market.”

The affected eggs have been distributed in Virginia, Iowa, Minnesota, Colorado, Utah, California, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Illinois. While 65 cases of salmonella have been confirmed, no deaths have been reported. Health officials are urging consumers to check their egg cartons for these brands and discard any eggs that may be part of the recall.

Salmonella can cause serious infections, particularly in young children, the elderly, and those with weakened immune systems. Symptoms typically include fever, diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain. The CDC advises anyone experiencing symptoms after consuming the recalled eggs to seek medical attention.

As the investigation continues, officials are working to identify the full scope of the contamination and prevent further illness.
