Staten Island commuters are getting a major upgrade as the MTA introduces the brand-new R211S trains on the Staten Island Railway, marking the first fleet replacement in over 50 years. MTA Chair Janno Lieber officially announced the debut of the cutting-edge rail cars, which are set to transform the daily commute for thousands of Staten Island residents.
The R211S trains bring a host of modern features designed to improve both comfort and safety. These new cars boast wider doors, allowing for easier boarding, and are equipped with advanced lighting systems to brighten up the passenger experience. The trains also promise a faster, smoother ride thanks to the latest in rail technology.
