During the stop, authorities discovered items linked to Burrow, including a Louisiana State University (LSU) shirt and a Cincinnati Bengals hat, in their vehicle.
The four men have been indicted on charges of engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, participating in a criminal gang, and possessing criminal tools. Investigations suggest that they are part of a larger network responsible for targeting multimillion-dollar homes across several states. Notably, the suspects were found to be illegally present in the United States, with some using fake identification.
The burglary at Burrow’s home occurred on December 9, 2024, while he was playing in a Monday Night Football game against the Dallas Cowboys. The incident was reported by Sports Illustrated model Olivia Ponton, who was present at the residence during the break-in and called 911. Ponton, who works with Burrow in a social media advisory capacity, was unharmed during the incident.
This arrest comes amid a series of burglaries targeting professional athletes. In October 2024, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce experienced similar break-ins at their homes. Mahomes’ residence in Belton, Missouri, was targeted around midnight on October 6, followed by a burglary at Kelce’s home in Leawood, Kansas, on October 7, during which $20,000 in cash was stolen, and a rear door was damaged. The FBI is investigating these incidents, suspecting the involvement of organized crime groups from South America.
