Kanye West’s account on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) has been deactivated after a series of antisemitic posts. As of Monday morning, users attempting to access his profile are met with a message indicating that the account no longer exists.

Over the past week, West, who legally changed his name to Ye, posted several inflammatory messages. In one, he declared, “I love Hitler. Now what b****es,” and in another, he stated, “I’m a Nazi.” These posts have been widely condemned for promoting hate speech and glorifying figures responsible for atrocities.

This incident is not isolated. In 2022, West faced significant backlash after tweeting that he was going “death con 3 on Jewish people,” leading to the suspension of his accounts and the loss of major business partnerships, including a lucrative deal with Adidas. Despite a public apology in December 2023, where he expressed remorse for his previous remarks, West’s recent actions suggest a continuation of his controversial behavior.

The deactivation of his X account follows a series of events that have drawn public scrutiny. During the recent Super Bowl, West aired a self-produced advertisement directing viewers to his website, which subsequently featured merchandise displaying Nazi symbols. This move further fueled criticism and calls for accountability.

Public figures have also weighed in on the controversy. Actor David Schwimmer called on X owner Elon Musk to ban West from the platform, stating that his posts were “hate-filled, ignorant bile.” Musk responded by placing a content warning on West’s account before its eventual deactivation.

As of now, it remains unclear whether the deactivation was initiated by West himself or enforced by the platform. The incident has reignited discussions about the responsibilities of social media companies in moderating hate speech and the broader implications of giving influential figures unchecked platforms.
