On February 20, 2025, three empty buses were targeted in explosions in Bat Yam, a suburb near Tel Aviv. Israeli authorities are investigating the incidents as a coordinated terrorist attack. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.

The explosions occurred almost simultaneously in bus depots, resulting in one bus being completely incinerated and another severely damaged. Police discovered two additional explosive devices on other buses, which were successfully neutralized. A note found with one of the unexploded devices bore the message “Revenge from Tulkarem,” referencing a city in the West Bank. While no group has officially claimed responsibility, a Hamas-affiliated Telegram channel hinted at involvement.

In response to the attacks, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered an intensified military operation in the West Bank, focusing on areas identified as militant strongholds. Defense Minister Israel Katz has held Palestinian terrorist organizations accountable for the bombings. Security measures have been heightened, including the deployment of additional troops and the implementation of movement restrictions in certain West Bank regions.

These incidents have raised concerns among the Israeli public, as bus bombings have been rare since the early 2000s. Authorities are urging vigilance and have temporarily halted public transportation services for security inspections. Investigations are ongoing, with efforts concentrated on identifying and apprehending those responsible for the attacks.
