Kimberly Burch, the 56-year-old fiancée of Faster Pussycat’s lead singer Taime Downe, tragically falls overboard from the Royal Caribbean cruise ship Explorer of the Seas on March 2, 2025. The incident occurs approximately 20 miles from Freeport, Bahamas, during the first night of an ’80s-themed seven-day cruise featuring performances by bands such as Faster Pussycat, Men at Work, and Squeeze.
Reports indicate that Burch and Downe, 60, had a heated argument shortly before she falls from their cabin balcony. Despite immediate search and rescue efforts by the ship’s crew, the U.S. Coast Guard, and the Royal Bahamas Defense Force, Burch’s body has not been recovered.
Burch’s mother, Carnell Burch, states that her daughter had been drinking on the cruise, which was uncharacteristic for her. She also expresses disbelief that Kimberly would intentionally harm herself, noting her excitement about the trip.
The couple has been together for approximately six years. Just weeks before the incident, Downe shared a heartfelt Valentine’s Day post expressing his love for Burch.
The family has expressed frustration over the lack of communication from the cruise line and is seeking answers regarding the circumstances of Burch’s death.
