In Wisconsin, Democratic-backed candidate Susan Crawford is elected to the state’s Supreme Court, defeating Republican-backed Brad Schimel. This victory maintains the court’s 4-3 liberal majority and is expected to influence critical issues such as abortion rights, union laws, and redistricting. The election attracts national attention and becomes the most expensive judicial race in U.S. history, with total spending approaching $100 million. Notably, tech billionaire Elon Musk invests over $25 million in support of Schimel’s campaign. Despite this substantial backing, Crawford secures approximately 55% of the vote, while Schimel receives about 45%. In Florida, Republicans retain two key House seats in special elections. State Senator Randy Fine wins the 6th District seat, previously held by Mike Waltz, who vacates the position to become President Trump’s National Security Advisor. Fine defeats Democrat Josh Weil, securing approximately 56.7% of the vote. In the 1st District, Jimmy Patronis claims victory over Democrat Gay Valimont, maintaining the Republican hold on the seat formerly occupied by Matt Gaetz. Amid these electoral outcomes, reports emerge suggesting that Elon Musk may be stepping back from his advisory role in the Trump administration. President Trump reportedly informs his inner circle that Musk will soon reduce his governmental duties to focus more on his business ventures. Musk has been serving as a special government employee leading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), a role not to exceed 130 days. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dismisses these reports as “garbage,” asserting that Musk will depart from public service upon completing his work at DOGE.
