Rebecca Fadanelli, a 38-year-old woman accused of posing as a nurse and administering fake Botox and dermal fillers, is set to appear before a federal judge in Worcester, Massachusetts, on November 14. Fadanelli, the owner of Skin Beaute Med Spa, is alleged to have performed illegal cosmetic procedures, using counterfeit injectables sourced from China and Brazil, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The investigation into Skin Beaute Med Spa began after several clients reported adverse reactions following treatments, which included injections of supposed Botox, Sculptra, and Juvederm. These products, typically used for anti-aging and cosmetic enhancement, are regulated and approved only when sourced through certified suppliers in the U.S. However, authorities allege that Fadanelli bypassed these regulations, importing unapproved and potentially unsafe products from overseas and administering them without a medical license.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office accuses Fadanelli of endangering public health by impersonating a licensed nurse, which misled clients into believing they were receiving care from a qualified professional. Massachusetts state law requires that medical procedures, including cosmetic injections, be performed only by certified healthcare practitioners. The charges claim that Fadanelli’s actions not only violated these regulations but also posed serious health risks to her clients.

In response to the allegations, federal prosecutors point to evidence of mislabeled vials, syringes, and documentation purportedly showing Fadanelli ordering and using fake Botox and other fillers not approved for use in the United States. The charges against her include practicing without a license, distributing counterfeit drugs, and committing fraud. If convicted, Fadanelli faces substantial penalties, including fines and potential prison time.

Medical professionals warn that counterfeit Botox and fillers can lead to serious complications, including infections, allergic reactions, and in severe cases, permanent disfigurement. “These products are not held to the same safety standards as U.S.-approved injectables,” commented Dr. Laura Andrews, a board-certified dermatologist based in Boston. “Injecting unapproved substances into the face can have unpredictable results, with long-term consequences for the patient’s health.”

As Fadanelli’s court date approaches, her case has highlighted broader concerns within the cosmetic industry regarding unlicensed practitioners and the risks of counterfeit products. Officials are urging consumers to verify the credentials of anyone administering medical treatments and to check for proper licensing and certifications.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office is encouraging anyone who may have received treatments from Skin Beaute Med Spa or other unauthorized providers to come forward. “Public safety is our primary concern,” said a spokesperson from the office. “We want to ensure that those affected by illegal medical practices are protected and informed.”

For now, Skin Beaute Med Spa remains closed, and Fadanelli has yet to issue a public statement. Her legal team has not commented on the case, but she is expected to enter a plea at her upcoming court appearance.
