In a perplexing case, the family of 19-year-old twin brothers, Qaadir Malik Lewis and Naazir Rahim Lewis, is disputing authorities’ preliminary conclusion of a murder-suicide following the discovery of their bodies on Bell Mountain, Georgia. The brothers, hailing from Lawrenceville, were found deceased with gunshot wounds on March 8, 2025, by hikers at the mountain’s summit.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) reported that both men suffered gunshot wounds, initially suggesting a murder-suicide scenario. However, autopsy results are pending additional forensic tests, and no official cause of death has been confirmed.
Family members are challenging this theory, emphasizing the twins’ inseparable bond and lack of history of violence towards each other. Their uncle, Rahim Brawner, expressed disbelief, stating, “I couldn’t imagine them hurting each other because I’ve never seen them get into a fistfight before.”
Compounding the mystery, the brothers had planned to fly to Boston on March 7 to visit friends, with plane tickets found in their wallets. Their bodies were discovered approximately 90 miles from their home in an area they were unfamiliar with. Their aunt, Samira Brawner, questioned, “How did they end up out in the mountains? They don’t hike out there, they’ve never been out there.”
The family is advocating for a thorough investigation, expressing concerns that the murder-suicide conclusion was reached prematurely. They have launched a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral expenses and support further inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the twins’ deaths.
