New York, New York – November 4, 2023

The legal drama surrounding former President Donald Trump’s New York civil fraud trial took a new turn on Friday when Judge Arthur Engoron expanded the existing gag order to include Trump’s legal representatives. This ruling prevents Trump’s attorneys from making any public comments regarding confidential communications between the judge and his staff, whether inside or outside the courtroom.

The decision to extend the gag order came in response to accusations made by three of Trump’s lawyers against the judge’s law clerk. They had alleged bias and improper influence over the ongoing trial. Judge Engoron expressed his concerns over the false accusations and the potential impact on the integrity of the legal proceedings.

The expanded gag order serves as a stern warning to Trump’s legal team. Violating the order, the judge warned, would result in “serious sanctions.” This action aims to maintain the integrity and impartiality of the trial and the judicial process, ensuring that proceedings are conducted fairly and free from undue influence or public commentary.
