The Pentagon stated that missiles fired from a rebel-controlled area of Yemen toward a Navy warship were not intended for the vessel. During a briefing on Tuesday, Pentagon Press Secretary Pat Ryder emphasized that he cannot specify the actual target.

The missile landed in proximity to the USS Mason and a commercial tanker, but the Pentagon concluded that they were not specifically targeted. Ryder affirmed that the U.S. is committed to taking necessary actions to protect its forces, refraining from predicting specific strikes.

This incident occurred following several attacks on U.S. entities in the region since the onset of the Israel-Hamas conflict. Ryder noted that the missile landed approximately 10 nautical miles from the ships and reiterated the commitment to safeguard U.S. forces.
