In a move to bolster Ukraine’s defense capabilities, the United States has provided the country with advanced long-range ballistic missiles known as ATACMS (Army Tactical Missile System).
National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan announced this development, revealing that the administration discreetly delivered these missiles to Kyiv last month.
The decision comes amid heightened tensions in the region, with reports indicating that Ukrainian forces have already utilized these missiles. Strikes were reportedly conducted on an airfield in Crimea and against Russian troops in southeastern Ukraine, showcasing the potency of these long-range weapons.
Sullivan further mentioned that additional ATACMS missiles will be part of a new military assistance package recently signed into law. This signals ongoing support from the U.S. to Ukraine as it faces continued challenges and aggression from Russian-backed forces.
The provision of ATACMS missiles underscores the strategic partnership between the United States and Ukraine in addressing security concerns and defending against external threats.
