Former President Donald Trump is challenging President Joe Biden to another debate and an 18-hole golf match. During a campaign rally at his golf resort in Florida on Tuesday, Trump extended an “official offer” to Biden, suggesting the President redeem himself after his poor debate performance last month. Trump added an enticing twist to the challenge, promising to donate one million dollars to a charity of Biden’s choice if the President wins the golf match.
In addition to the debate and golf challenge, Trump used the rally to announce that he will soon reveal his running mate for the 2024 presidential election. Speaking on Fox News’s “Brian Kilmeade Show,” Trump mentioned that he plans to unveil his vice-presidential pick within the next week. Top contenders for the position include North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, Florida Senator Marco Rubio, and Ohio Senator J.D. Vance. Trump escalated his criticism of current Vice President Kamala Harris, suggesting that his chosen running mate would be far superior to what he derisively called “Laffin’ Kamala.”
The anticipation for Trump’s VP announcement is growing, particularly with the Republican National Convention just five days away. Miami-Dade Commissioner Kevin Cabrera, who served as Florida state director for Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign, indicated that the announcement is imminent. Cabrera has publicly endorsed Senator Marco Rubio as the best candidate for the vice-presidential role, aligning with Trump’s strategy to strengthen his ticket for the upcoming election.
Thousands of supporters attended the rally in Doral, eager to hear Trump’s latest plans and witness the unfolding of his campaign strategy. As Trump continues to make bold moves and issue high-stakes challenges, the political landscape for the 2024 election is heating up. President Biden has not yet responded to Trump’s debate and golf match challenge.
