California Sheriff Criticizes Kamala Harris Campaign Ad for Misrepresenting Law Enforcement Support

Tulare County Sheriff Mike Boudreaux is expressing his displeasure after being featured in a recent campaign ad for Vice President Kamala Harris, who is running for president. The ad, which promotes Harris’s tough-on-crime stance, includes footage from a press conference highlighting the takedown of drug lords at the U.S.-Mexico border. However, Boudreaux, a prominent Central California lawman, claims that the Harris campaign did not seek his permission to use the images and asserts that the ad contradicts Harris’s actual record on crime.

Sheriff Boudreaux, who serves as the President of the California State Sheriff’s Association, is particularly critical of Harris’s tenure as California’s Attorney General. He argues that Harris’s policies have been detrimental to law enforcement efforts, specifically citing her decision to dissolve more than 50 Bureau of Narcotics Enforcement task forces. Boudreaux contends that these task forces were crucial in curbing the flow of illicit drugs into California, and their dissolution has had lasting negative impacts on border security and crime prevention in the state.

The images were from a press conference touting the takedown of druglords at the U.S.-Mexico border. Boudreaux says Harris showed up, spoke at the podium, and left without shaking the hands of the law enforcement leaders responsible for the drug busts.
Boudreaux says the Harris campaign is being disingenuous in showing a press conference about a massive drug bust at the border.

Boudreaux recounts that during the press conference used in the campaign ad, Harris appeared briefly, spoke at the podium, and then left without acknowledging the law enforcement leaders who were responsible for the drug busts. This, according to Boudreaux, further demonstrates what he views as a disingenuous portrayal of Harris’s commitment to supporting law enforcement.

Boudreaux is the President of the California State Sheriff’s Association and says many of his colleagues from various counties were onstage during that press conference.
The Sheriff says policies supported by Harris then and now have left California in sad shape.

In his critique, Boudreaux states that Harris’s campaign is misrepresenting her position on crime and border security, and he does not believe she is qualified to be president. Despite his strong objections, Boudreaux has not formally requested the Harris campaign to remove the ad.

The sheriff’s comments add to the ongoing debate over Harris’s record on crime and law enforcement, an issue that continues to be a focal point in her presidential campaign. As the election draws nearer, the Harris campaign may face increased scrutiny over its portrayal of law enforcement support, particularly from figures like Boudreaux who are voicing their concerns publicly.
